Roof Replacement in New Orleans
A full tear-off, new decking where it is needed, synthetic underlayment and Owens Corning shingles, installed by our own crew, usually in one to two days.

From estimate to a finished roof
Inspection and estimate
We walk the roof, photograph what we find and give you an itemized written price. No surprises added later.
Permits and materials
We pull the city permit, handle HDLC review in historic districts, and order materials. Shingle samples come to you so you can pick the color at home.
Tear-off and install
Old roofing comes off down to the deck. Rotten decking is replaced, then synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water at the eaves and valleys, new flashing and vents, and the shingles, with six nails in every shingle for high-wind hold.
Clean-up and warranty
We run a magnet for nails and haul everything away. You get our 5-year workmanship warranty and your Owens Corning warranty, registered for you.
Materials we use
Owens Corning shingles: Oakridge and Duration
We install Owens Corning Oakridge and Duration architectural shingles in a full range of colors. Duration Series shingles can now qualify for a limited wind warranty of up to 160 mph when installed with Owens Corning hip and ridge, underlayment, starter shingles on the eaves and rakes, plus ice and water barrier or ventilation (what that means). Both come with Owens Corning's limited lifetime warranty for homeowners: the first 10 years cover defective shingles plus the labor to replace them, and after that Owens Corning pays part of the shingle cost. We register it in your name (full warranty). Other shingle brands can be quoted on request.
Synthetic underlayment
Tear-resistant and waterproof, so the house stays dry if a storm hits mid-job and for decades after.
New flashing, vents and pipe boots
Most leaks start at penetrations, not in the field of the roof. Every replacement gets new flashing and boots, plus ridge or attic ventilation matched to the house.
Decking repair
Soft or rotten plywood is replaced, priced per sheet on the estimate so you know the cost before it comes up.

Signs it is time, and what drives the price
Signs your roof needs replacing
- Shingles curling, cracking or missing in more than one spot
- Granules collecting in the gutters
- Leaks in different places, or the same leak after repairs
- Soft or sagging areas on the roof deck
- A shingle roof that is 20 years old or more
What affects the cost of a roof replacement
- The size and steepness of the roof
- How many old layers come off
- How much rotten decking needs replacing
- The shingle line you choose (Oakridge or Duration)
- Chimneys, skylights, dormers and other details
Your estimate lists each of these, so you can see where the money goes. For typical price ranges, read how much a roof costs in New Orleans.
Roof replacement questions
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most New Orleans homes take one to two days once materials are on site. Steep pitches, multiple layers or a lot of decking repair add time, and we tell you up front.
Do I need to be home?
No. We need access to the driveway and power for tools. Many customers are at work or, as several reviews mention, out of state.
What about my gutters and siding?
We can replace gutters at the same time, and siding or soffit and fascia work ties in cleanly with a new roof. See gutters and siding.
Is a repair enough instead?
Sometimes. If the roof has years left, we say so and quote the repair instead.
